Limited Edition 2018 & 2019 Patch

Posted on Apr 29 2019 - 10:53am

Troop 7 will be releasing a limited run custom patch in 2018 and 2019

How can I get one of these patches?

The patch will be awarded to scouts that actively participate in posting and retiring the flags in Upper Alton on the designated federal holidays. Scouts must participate in both the morning posting and evening retirement of at least five of the nine designated federal holidays. Please see the calendar below for dates.

Why is Troop 7 responsible for the flags in Upper Alton?

A Scout is Helpful. Posting the flags for in Upper Alton is community service. It is sponsored by the Upper Alton Association who takes an active role in maintaining the Upper Alton area.
A Scout is Thrifty. The Upper Alton Association makes a donation to Troop 7 each year for our help which helps to fund books, merit badges and troop gear.

How can I help?

Participate. Each session is usually less than 20 minutes and works smoothly with more volunteers. We will meet in the parking lot front of the Little Caesars on Washington Ave on each designated day. Younger scouts are encouraged to bring a step stool in order the reach the flag mounts.
Lead. Do you drive an SUV, minivan, or truck? If so we need your help as an event leader. The event leader will gather the flags from the College Ave firehouse on the evening before the designated day, bring them to the meeting point to be posted and make sure they are returned to the firehouse that evening. The event leader will also set the meeting times for the day. This is a responsibility shared by the entire troop so we appreciate as many volunteers for this as possible.
Contact. Scouts and volunteers can sign up to as an event leader or to RSVP for participation by clicking the button below or contacting our Troop Committee at  committeechair@troop7alton.org.
